Softball Recap: Cave Spring Takes a Loss

Cave Spring had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-4 to make it four. They lost 13-4 to the Franklin County Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered since April 5, 2024.

Abigail Bradberry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Franklin County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight contests by nine runs or more so far this season.

On Franklin County's side, Brooke Weaver spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Madysen McCrickard was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Eva Custer was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Cave Spring will venture away from home to face off against Hidden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Franklin County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lord Botetourt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
