Basketball Recap: Athens Christian Preparatory Academy Takes a Loss

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 63-26 loss at the hands of the Trinity School of Texas Titans. The Storm were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-10.

Nick Runte and Nathan Mitchell certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Runte posted ten points and three steals, while Mitchell earned nine points and five rebounds. Runte is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least three every time he's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Athens Christian Preparatory Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Athens Christian Preparatory Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Trinity School of Texas, they moved to 5-6 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing St. Mary's the next time they take the court. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy will head out to face St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. on January 14th, while Trinity School of Texas will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th.
