Basketball Recap: Richwood Comes Up Short

Richwood was the 43-25 winner over Notre Dame when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Richwood Lumberjacks took a blow against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday, falling 58-16. The match marked the Lumberjacks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Notre Dame was led to victory by Selena Wilson and Addy Murray. Wilson dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 14 rebounds, and ten assists, while Murray went 8 of 16 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Wilson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Isabella Garnek was another key player, putting up seven points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Richwood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Notre Dame, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Richwood will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Clay-Battelle at 1:00 p.m. on February 8th. As for Notre Dame, they will be playing at home against Trinity Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame is facing Trinity Christian at the right time seeing as Trinity Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
