Recap: John Paul II Centurions vs. Veritas Academy
The John Paul II Centurions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Veritas Academy by a score of 61-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, John Paul II still got an impressive performance from Eliseo Garcia, who scored 36 points along with two steals. Garcia hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Joseph Mata, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds and two steals.
John Paul II has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-21 record this season. As for Veritas Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-13.
John Paul II does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Veritas Academy will head out on the road to take on Brentwood Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brentwood Christian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 489 points over their last seven games.
