Basketball Recap: Excel Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Excel duked it out withMonroe County on Saturday. The Excel Panthers took a blow against the Monroe County Tigers, falling 54-17. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-8.

Despite the loss, Excel still got an impressive performance from Kendall Plunkett, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Plunkett a new career-high in points.

Excel's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Monroe County, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 4-14 record.

Excel has already played their next contest (against Millry), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Monroe County will welcome Southern Choctaw at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
