Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is College Park's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

College Park's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Willis Wildkats with a sharp 52-29 victory. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Wildkats are ranked 1003rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

College Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooke Smith, who went 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points and five assists. Valentina Campos was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Willis lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nija Calyen, who posted nine points. Another player making a difference was Heaven Sims, who scored seven points.

College Park has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-10 record this season. As for Willis, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-19.

College Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 43-20 victory against Caney Creek on the 28th. Willis has also already played their next contest, a 71-27 win against New Caney on the 28th.
