Basketball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Takes a Loss

If Woodrow Wilson was riding high fresh off their 57-33 takedown of Princeton on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles fell 53-46 to the PikeView Panthers on Tuesday. The Flying Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 68-66.

Despite the loss, Woodrow Wilson saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zoey Williams on her way to 15 points and five rebounds. Williams' big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Donya Burton, who posted 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Woodrow Wilson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for PikeView, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-9.

Coming up, Woodrow Wilson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bluefield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for PikeView, they will take on Nicholas County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
