Softball Game Preview: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Fairview Tigers

The Conneaut Area Eagles will face off against the Fairview Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Conneaut Area is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Conneaut Area's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past North East 12-0. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Kaylin Faust made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Faust was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hailey Gilliland was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Miller, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Conneaut Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Fairview was a bit more limited in their contest on Tuesday. They fell 7-2 to Northwestern. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Conneaut Area has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Fairview, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
