Softball Game Preview: North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays vs. Frontier Falcons

The North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays will face off against the Frontier Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. North Judson-San Pierre will be strutting in after a victory while Frontier will be coming in after a loss.

North Judson-San Pierre will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs last Thursday, then bounced right back against Caston on Tuesday. The Bluejays walked away with a 10-6 win over the Comets. The game was the first time the Bluejays have beaten the Comets on their field since April 18, 2017.

Molly Madsen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on 12 hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Timm, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs. Kenya Cooper was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Frontier was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 28th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 19-2 to North Newton.

Ashlyn Minniear was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

North Judson-San Pierre is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Frontier, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

North Judson-San Pierre took their win against Frontier when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Do the Bluejays have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
