Volleyball Recap: Grand Island Comes Up Short

If Grand Island was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Bryan on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Islanders came up short against the Marian Crusaders on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Islanders in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost five in a row.

The final score came out to 25-17, 25-16, 25-10.

Grand Island's offense was headlined by Aralynn Scheel and Zada Gernstein, who picked up seven kills apiece. They got some help from Emery Glause and her 11 assists. Atleigh Corman and Irelynn Sughroue kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with two aces apiece.

Grand Island's loss dropped their record down to 10-23. As for Marian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-8 record this season.

Grand Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marian has already played their next match (against Millard North), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
