Soccer Game Preview: Charlottesville vs. Monticello

The Charlottesville Black Knights will face off against the Monticello Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Charlottesville's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Goochland 3-0. The win continues a trend for Charlottesville in their matchups with Goochland: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Monticello had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-2 margin over the Lions. Given Monticello's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Louisa County are ranked 268th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Charlottesville now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Monticello, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
