            Football Recap: Paraclete Spirits vs. St. Francis Golden Knights        
        
		
        
        
            After having lost a blowout in their  previous game against Cathedral, Paraclete was happy to have turned things around  on Friday. They came out on top against the St. Francis Golden Knights by a score of  42-35. Given the Spirits' advantage  in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Golden Knights are ranked 339th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Paraclete was led to victory by  Joseph Mesa and  Kyle Fulton Jr.  Mesa threw for 290 yards and five  TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, while  Fulton Jr rushed for 196 yards and one  touchdown while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. The Spirits are undefeated when  Fulton Jr posts 80 or  more  rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.
 Another reason for the win was Paraclete's imposing  defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Darren Coleman,  Christopher Rivera,  and  Austin Robinson, who each picked up one  sack apiece.
 Several Golden Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was   Alister Chan, who threw for 152 yards and three  touchdowns, and also punched in a pair of  scores on the ground. St. Francis' leading receiver  Mason Maddox was  Chan's top target yet again, picking up 120 receiving yards and three  TDs.
Paraclete has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record  this season. As for St. Francis, their loss was  their fifth straight on the road, which  dropped their record down to 1-8.
 We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Paraclete will  face off against  rival St. Paul  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Francis is set to  square off against  their familiar foe Cathedral  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
