Soccer Game Preview: Nicolet vs. Brookfield Central

The Nicolet Knights will challenge the Brookfield Central Lancers on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nicolet is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Homestead. The game was the first time Nicolet have beaten Homestead on their pitch since May 10, 2018.

Meanwhile, Brookfield Central entered their tilt with Slinger on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Owls a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Brookfield Central, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

The win made it two in a row for Nicolet and bumps their season record up to 11-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those two games. As for Brookfield Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Nicolet might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Brookfield Central when the teams last played back in April of 2019. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
