Volleyball Game Preview: La Salle Academy Rams vs. East Providence Townies

The La Salle Academy Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the East Providence Townies at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

La Salle Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Bishop Hendricken, who was ranked tenth at the time (La Salle Academy was ranked ninth). The Rams put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 3-0 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won eight in a row.

La Salle Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Bishop Hendricken between 17 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 25-20.

La Salle Academy can attribute much of their success to Ty Cotta, who had 17 digs. Cotta is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last six games he's played. Stephen Buco also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, East Providence made easy work of Chariho on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Townies.

East Providence's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for La Salle Academy, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
