Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Elijah Jones and Jaden Scales Lead Orangefield to Victory

Orangefield's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They secured a 61-55 W over the Rudder Rangers.

Orangefield was led to victory by Jaden Scales and Elijah Jones. Scales went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points, while Jones posted nine points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Sims, who had nine points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Rudder had strong showings from Jaquise Martin, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 17 points and four steals, and Kayden Holmes, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. Rodrigo Salazar Gold was another key player, putting up two points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Orangefield has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Rudder, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.

Orangefield will welcome East Chambers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Rudder, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-40 loss against Katy on the 28th.
