Basketball Game Preview: Warren County Eagles vs. Wilson Prep Tigers

Warren County hasn't had much luck against Wilson Prep recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warren County Eagles will welcome the Wilson Prep Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Wednesday, Warren County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 75-70 to Rocky Mount Prep. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Warren County might have lost, but man, Nazir Shaw was a machine: he went 8 for 12 on his way to 25 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Shaw a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%). Tony Henderson was another key player, going 6 of 13 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson Prep). They blew past Northwest Halifax 107-70 on Saturday. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on six straight.

Wilson Prep's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30.5 points. As for Warren County, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Warren County took a serious blow against Wilson Prep when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 72-32. Thankfully for Warren County, Brandon Anderson (who posted 11 points and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
