Football Recap: Simsbury Comes Up Short

Simsbury extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-4. They were outmatched by the South Windsor Bobcats and fell 43-14. The Trojans lost against the Bobcats in their previous head to head back in November of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 32-24 score last time.

As for South Windsor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Windsor to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Faux, who rushed for 109 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Faux's longest rush was for an impressive 56 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Jalil Montgomery was another key rusher, rushing for 112 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries.

Coming up, Simsbury will welcome East Hartford at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans will be up against the Hornets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.75 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for South Windsor, they are taking a road trip to challenge Conard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will be up against the Red Wolves' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
