Basketball Game Preview: Forestburg Longhorns vs. Newcastle Bobcats

The Forestburg Longhorns will face off against the Newcastle Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forestburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season.

Forestburg is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Prairie Valley for the full four quarters, racking up an 84-32 victory. With the Longhorns ahead 50-12 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Forestburg's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesus Sanchez, who posted 19 points. Sanchez continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Nick Salazar was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Meanwhile, Newcastle strolled past Garner with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 49-33.

Forestburg is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.9 points over those games. As for Newcastle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-16.

Forestburg beat Newcastle 53-46 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Forestburg repeat their success, or does Newcastle have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
