Softball Recap: Goodland Takes a Loss

After flying high against Ulysses on Tuesday, Goodland came back down to earth. The Cowboys fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 8-7 on Tuesday. The Cowboys were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 8-1.

Dani Fisher stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Gonzalez, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Goodland has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Ulysses, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Goodland will square off against Lakin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncs have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Ulysses, they will challenge Spearville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 13.9 runs per game this season.
