Softball Recap: Murphysboro Find Success

Murphysboro never let their opponents score on Monday. They came out on top against the Harrisburg Bulldogs by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). This was payback for the Red Devils, who suffered a 7-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Not much got past Blaire Fox, who gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Harrisburg off the board. Fox has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kylie Powell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Murphysboro's record now sits at 7-10. As for Harrisburg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

Murphysboro has already played their next matchup, a 7-1 loss against Carterville on the 14th. As for Harrisburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 5-2 win against Herrin on the 14th.
