Elgin has gone a perfect 4-0 against Mt. Gilead recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Comets will face off against the Indians at 12:00 p.m. Elgin has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Elgin's last matchup with Hardin Northern could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Comets came up short against the Polar Bears, falling 15-5. The Comets' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Hayleigh Lowther was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Destiny Frye also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Gilead lost 22-2 to Centerburg on Thursday. The Indians have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Elgin now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Mt. Gilead, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

Elgin got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2019 against Mt. Gilead by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
