After a string of nine wins, Redwood's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They took a 61-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monterey Trail Mustangs.

Ahzeil Franklin had a dynamite game for Monterey Trail, going 9 of 11 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Those 23 points gave Franklin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Derron White, who posted 11 points in addition to eight assists and five boards.

Redwood's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Monterey Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Redwood has already played their next matchup, a 73-70 loss against Marin Catholic on the 21st. As for Monterey Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-56 victory against Cosumnes Oaks on the 22nd.
