Softball Recap: West Lincoln Rebels vs. Maiden Blue Devils
The matchup between West Lincoln and Maiden on Friday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The West Lincoln Rebels fell just short of the Maiden Blue Devils by a score of 10-9. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Gabrielle Wright was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Wright was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. That run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Carpenter was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-5. Another player making a difference was Jada Willis, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Even though they lost, West Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
West Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Maiden, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lincoln will square off against Bunker Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maiden, they will challenge West Caldwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
