Basketball Recap: Lakes Comes Up Short

Lakes has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 76-67 loss to the Timberline Blazers. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 71-61 to them when the teams met on Monday, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Timberline's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenyon Simmons led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Damari Evans, who went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points along with five assists and five steals.

Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Timberline, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Lakes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 92-66 victory against Peninsula on the 8th. Timberline has also already played their next contest, a 61-50 win against Capital on the 8th.
