Baseball Recap: Lake Takes a Loss

Lake has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.88 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They fell just short of the Newton County Cougars by a score of 11-10. The Hornets haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Trey Gray was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.

Lake's loss dropped their record down to 21-5. As for Newton County, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake will welcome Southeast Lauderdale at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Newton County, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Clinton at 7:00 p.m. The Arrows' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
