Basketball Game Preview: Elkhorn North vs. Waverly Vikings

Elkhorn North just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Waverly Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Thursday, Elkhorn North got the win against Blair by a conclusive 73-51. Elkhorn North has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Waverly). They came out on top against Standing Bear by a score of 60-50 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Waverly's win came from a few key players Elkhorn North will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ashton Heffelfinger, who went 5 for 12 en route to 18 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Dubas, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 15 points.

Waverly was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Elkhorn North pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Waverly, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-13.
