Softball Game Preview: New Fairfield Rebels vs. New Milford Green Wave

New Fairfield is 0-10 against New Milford since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Rebels will look to defend their home field against the Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between New Fairfield and Notre Dame Prep, and Notre Dame Prep kept the tradition alive. The Rebels fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Rebels couldn't push the score so high this time.

New Fairfield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Roldan, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Lindsey Briggs was another, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, New Milford lost a heartbreaker to Newtown when they met back in May of 2024, and they left with a heavy heart again on Wednesday. The Green Wave fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 3-1. The Green Wave haven't had much luck with the Nighthawks recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

New Fairfield's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for New Milford, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. New Fairfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like New Milford struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
