 If the Mercer County Titans were riding high  off their  71-36 takedown of the Casey County Rebels last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Mercer County received a tough blow  on Saturday as they fell  62-44 to North Laurel. While losing is never fun, Mercer County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings  (they are ranked 81st, while North Laurel is ranked fifth).
 Mercer County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Ak Drakeford, who  scored 14 points along with seven  assists and seven  rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of  Izzie Carlton, who  dropped  a double-double on 14 points and ten  rebounds.
 Mercer County's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for North Laurel, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 15 of their last 17 games,  which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record  this season.
 Mercer County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  contest, a  66-53  loss vs. Pulaski County on the 20th. North Laurel has also already played their next game, a  66-36  victory against Owsley County on the 20th.
