Maiden had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Lincolnton Wolves 29-26. Surprisingly, this marked the Blue Devils' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Shannon Wingate had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 16 yards and one TD.

Despite the loss, Lincolnton still got an impressive performance from Rashad Lynch, who threw for 224 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 73 yards and one score.

Coming up, Maiden will take on A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lincolnton, they will face off against North Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
