Football Recap: Asheboro Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Asheboro and Dudley squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Asheboro had to settle for second. They lost to the Panthers at home by a 21-6 margin. The Blue Comets were red-hot offensively heading into the contest (they scored no less than 31 points in the three games prior), but the Panthers' defense proved too tough.

When it comes to explaining why Asheboro lost, don't look at Dallas Brinton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 91 yards, and also threw for 251 yards on 14 of 31 attempts.

Dudley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert McCollum, who rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Those 161 rushing yards gave McCollum a new career-high. Brayden Jeffries was another key player, rushing for 71 yards and one TD.

Asheboro's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Dudley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Asheboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dudley, they will head out to take on Ashbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greenwave's defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
