Softball Preview: Clarksville Panthers vs. Pottsville Apaches
Clarksville hasn't had much luck against Pottsville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Panthers will take on the Apaches at 4:30 p.m. Clarksville will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Last Tuesday, Clarksville came up short against Ozark and fell 16-11.
Meanwhile, Pottsville put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They skirted past Mena 2-0.
Not much got past Addy Wilmoth, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Mena off the board. Wilmoth has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Brooklynne Fields was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing three bases. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Pottsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Clarksville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-16.
