Baseball Game Preview: Providence Pioneers vs. Rio Hondo Prep Kares

For the second straight game, Providence will face off against Rio Hondo Prep. The Pioneers will welcome the Kares at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Providence is returning to their home field after beating Rio Hondo Prep on theirs, despite the fact Rio Hondo Prep has dominated at home this season. The Pioneers came out on top against the Kares by a score of 4-1 on Tuesday.

Adrian Contreras was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Providence is 7-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-9 otherwise. Contreras was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kiran Kostecka, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

With the defeat, Rio Hondo Prep broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-3. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 8-11.
