Football Recap: Cypress Lake Takes a Loss

Cypress Lake played a tough matchup on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Pahokee Blue Devils 40-7. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-0.

Pahokee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Xavier Mitchell led the charge by throwing for 263 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 75 yards on only five carries. Samuel Arnold was another key back, rushing for 150 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.

Cypress Lake's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pahokee, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cypress Lake is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pahokee, they will square off against Seminole Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
