After a string of three wins, Canutillo's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 3-1 to the Burges Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent loss being a 3-1 defeat back in August.

Canutillo was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Burges work for it, especially in the fourth set. The final score came out to 25-15, 22-25, 25-14, 26-24.

When it comes to explaining why Canutillo lost, don't look at Hailey Pedregon. Despite the final result, she had 24 digs.

Burges' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emilly Banuelos, who had 22 digs and four assists. Banuelos has been hot, having posted 14 or more digs the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paradieselynn Fuimaono, who had ten digs and two aces.

Canutillo's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Burges, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

Canutillo has already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Chapin on the 23rd. As for Burges, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 victory against Andress on the 23rd.
