Football Game Preview: Washington-Wilkes Tigers vs. Lake Oconee Academy Titans

Washington-Wilkes is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Friday. After each having a week off, they and the Lake Oconee Academy Titans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:30 p.m. Washington-Wilkes has given up an average of 31.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Washington-Wilkes came up short against Mount Paran Christian and fell 40-32.

Despite their defeat, Washington-Wilkes saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mayson Mingle, who rushed for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries, and also threw for 150 yards and one TD, was perhaps the best of all. Mingle's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Dre'Vioun Davis was another key back, rushing for 136 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 49 points the game before, Lake Oconee Academy was a bit more limited in their game last Friday. They took a blow against Landmark Christian, falling 35-7.

Washington-Wilkes' loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Lake Oconee Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-4.

Washington-Wilkes was able to grind out a solid win over Lake Oconee Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 20-13. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
