Baseball Game Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. Troy Trojans

The Springboro Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Troy Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Springboro's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Troy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Springboro is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Badin just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Panthers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Springboro got a good showing from Bodie Abbott, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Springboro saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Cane, who went 1-for-4 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Cane has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Troy waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Indians. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Troy's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Springboro, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Springboro came out on top in a nail-biter against Troy when the teams last played back in April of 2019, sneaking past 9-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
