Preview: Winona Tigers vs. Grenada Chargers

Winona has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Grenada Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Winona will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 229th, while Grenada is ranked 106th).

Last Tuesday, Winona didn't have too much trouble with Water Valley at home as they won 47-32.

Meanwhile, Grenada scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 62-50 victory over North Panola. The win was just what Grenada needed coming off of a 74-53 loss in their prior contest.

Grenada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lauren Harges led the charge by scoring 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. The match was Harges' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carlei Brown, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Winona has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-6 record this season. Grenada's record now sits at 5-3.

Winona was dealt a bruising 71-26 loss at the hands of Grenada when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Winona avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
