3A Tri-Valley recap October 22, 2013
Roosevelt extended the longest winning streak in 3A Tri-Valley this week by beating Silver Creek, 23-20. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Roughriders.
Northridge took down Berthoud 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brenden Fulton threw for 218 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
He was 16-26 with 0 interceptions.
Kyle Couch was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 166 yards on 20 carries as Mead topped the Spartans. Teammate Dane Meyers added to the ground attack by rushing for 84 yards.
Northridge's Fulton and Frye led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-9 quarterback Fulton has thrown for 1,730 yards this season, while Frye has 46 catches for 758 yards. The Maverick's Couch leads the league in rushing yards with 965.
The top two teams in 3A Tri-Valley will face off this week when first place Mead takes on second place Silver Creek. Last week, Mead defeated Skyline, while the Raptors fell to Roosevelt.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Jeff Fulton's team's Frye goes up against Noland Eastin's team's Adrian Pastrana.
Couch of the Jason Klatt's team is only 35 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 99 carries Couch has accumulated 965 yard this year.
Next week's game between the Grizzlies and the Roughriders will feature an aerial matchup as Fulton tests his arm against Pastrana's defensive ability.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when Northridge and Roosevelt face off next week.
The Roughriders and Mike Apodaca's team played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Roughriders eventually emerging with a 23-20 victory. Randy Molinar ran for 148 yards during the win.
