Softball Game Preview: South Johnston Trojans vs. West Johnston Wildcats

South Johnston has gone a perfect 10-0 against West Johnston recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. South Johnston will square off against West Johnston at 6:00 p.m. South Johnston will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

South Johnston's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against East Wake as South Johnston made off with an 8-0 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

Not much got past Ava Strickland, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep East Wake off the board. Strickland has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lannah Price, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Cox, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Johnston). They put the hurt on Hunt with a sharp 20-0 victory on Friday. The Wildcats have beaten the Warriors the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Warriors has come to flipping the script.

South Johnston's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for West Johnston, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Everything went South Johnston's way against West Johnston when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as South Johnston made off with a 10-0 victory. Will South Johnston repeat their success, or does West Johnston has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
