Basketball Recap: Willows Academy Comes Up Short

Willows Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 77-62 bruising from the Grant Community Bulldogs.

Grant Community's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrey Lehner, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Lehner a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Ryan Kadlec, who posted eight points in addition to 15 boards and eight assists.

Willows Academy suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 18-7. As for Grant Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.

Willows Academy will take on Wheaton Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Grant Community, they will challenge Grayslake Central at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
