Baseball Recap: Fall River Takes a Loss

Fall River had lost seven straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 6-12 to make it eight. They came up short against the Weed Cougars, falling 18-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 12-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Weed, they now have a winning record of 11-10. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Weed's part, Jett Marshall spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jackson Keen, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Weed is 9-2 when Keen posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Braeden Cordes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Weed beat Fall River by a score of 22-19 later that day.
