Basketball Recap: North White Comes Up Short

North White was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Faith Christian Eagles, falling 58-25. The Vikings were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-9.

Braylon Sipkema and Fernando Gomez certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Sipkema posted seven points and ten boards, while Gomez scored four points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Sipkema a new career-high in rebounds. Chris Annis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Even though they lost, North White smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Faith Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabe Miller, who earned ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Barrett, who had 11 points.

North White's loss dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Faith Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-17.

North White didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-18 defeat against Tri-County on the 5th. As for Faith Christian, they will face off against Covington at 6:00 p.m. on March 7th. Faith Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Covington likes a good challenge.
