Basketball Recap: Providence Panthers vs. Ardrey Kell Knights
Providence lost against Ardrey Kell back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Providence Panthers took a 60-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ardrey Kell Knights. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Knights are ranked 72nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ardrey Kell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Wacker, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 boards. The dominant performance gave Wacker a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Braden Suggs, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 12 points.
Providence's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Ardrey Kell, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Providence will be taking part in a tournament against Cuthbertson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Ardrey Kell, they will venture away from home to take on Berry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ardrey Kell knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Berry likes a good challenge.
