League recap: Porterville tops Hanford to extend winning streak

East Yosemite recap September 24, 2013

Porterville added to the longest winning streak in East Yosemite this week by beating Hanford, 42-21. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Tulare Western scaled the state rankings by moving to 483 from 595 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs climbed the ranks as a result of beating Hanford West 35-27.

Jose Ayon was the best receiver in the league this week as Delano bested North. Ayon racked up 5 receptions for 62 yards.

Robert Rivera was the most successful running back in East Yosemite this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 115 yards as the Tigers beat the Stars. Teammate Chris Hernandez added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.

Kobe Portillo put up the best numbers in passing as Tulare Western defeated the Huskies. He finished with 13 completions for 154 yards. Portillo's favorite target this week was Casey Bernardo, who caught 3 passes for 43 yards.

5-foot-10 quarterback Portillo of Ryan Rocha's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 395. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ayon. The Delano star has 11 catches for 195 yards.

Monache lost to Dinuba 57-22 last week, the largest margin of any game.
