2A Patriot recap November 5, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A Patriot this week, Brush beat The Academy 55-6. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Beetdiggers.
Platte Valley took down Ridge View Academy 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Kyle Rosenbrock threw for 184 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 6-10 with 0 interceptions.
Jake Brown was a key player and the best on defense this week as Brush topped the Wildcats. He pulled down 1 interception.
Jeff Merritt was a passing and rushing force as Fort Lupton fell to Gunnison. He completed 9 passes for 118 yards and also ran for 163 yards. Merritt's key target this week was Colton McCutchan, who caught 4 passes for 112 yards.
Jacob Smith was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 176 yards as Strasburg fell to the Cowboys. Teammate Mitchel Martin added to the ground attack by rushing for 21 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Merritt of Fort Lupton is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,818. He has also thrown 19 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ethan Rose. The Sterling star has 40 catches for 766 yards.
Randy Baker of the Randy Dreitz's team is just 79 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Baker has rushed for 921 yards on 122 carries so far this year.
The Beetdiggers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on The Academy. Rosenbrock in the win.
