Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Gets the Win

Roosevelt lost to Woodridge back in May of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Rough Riders won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rough Riders.

Garrett Polcha tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Roosevelt is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Roosevelt saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Estep, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Woodridge, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will host Ravenna at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Woodridge, they will square off against Coventry at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
