Basketball Recap: Hunter Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Keaton Miller and Dominick Phanolath

Hunter was the 65-60 winner over Cyprus when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hunter Wolverines received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 75-61 to the Cyprus Pirates. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hunter's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dominick Phanolath, who posted 24 points and seven rebounds, and Keaton Miller, who had 13 points and seven boards. Phanolath's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Silas, who scored seven points.

Cyprus was led to victory by Koli Fosita and Beckham Bayles. Fosita went 9 for 12 en route to 23 points and five boards, while Bayles went 5 of 9 on his way to 17 points and six assists. Alen Hadzialijagic was another key player, putting up ten points.

Hunter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Cyprus, they pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Hunter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-45 loss against Granger on the 24th. Cyprus has also already played their next game, a 49-47 defeat against Kearns on the 24th.
