Basketball Game Preview: Nelsonville-York Buckeyes vs. Portsmouth West Senators

The Nelsonville-York Buckeyes and the Portsmouth West Senators will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Nelsonville-York will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Nelsonville-York needed a bit of extra time to put away Berne Union. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 74-66.

Nelsonville-York's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alec Thompson, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 24 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Thompson's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Inman, who posted eight points along with seven steals and five assists.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth West came up short against Rock Hill on Monday and fell 37-30. The matchup marked the Senators' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Portsmouth West and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Nelsonville-York, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
