Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln-Way West Warriors vs. Downers Grove North Trojans

The Lincoln-Way West Warriors will face off against the Downers Grove North Trojans at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Lincoln-Way West is headed into Saturday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sandburg on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Downers Grove North came tearing into Tuesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 69-16 win over the Panthers. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while the Panthers are ranked 302nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Downers Grove North is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for Lincoln-Way West, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-9.

Lincoln-Way West came up short against Downers Grove North in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 40-32. Thankfully for Lincoln-Way West, Hope Sebek (who posted 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
