Recap: Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs vs. Carmel Greyhounds
The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 57-42 win over Carmel. Given Franklin Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Carmel is ranked 84th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brooklyn York was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points. Another player making a difference was Erica Buening, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Franklin Community's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.2 points. As for Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Franklin Community will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mooresville at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
